Another pain the ar$e newbie wants some help

Hi there,

Im after some guidance if anyone would be kind enough, apologies if I am treading over old ground, but I have looked through a great deal of posts and done the relevant searches but haven’t quite found answers to all my questions.

Ok I want to invest in a decent satellite setup that will enable me to tune in to art sports 1-4(for the live prem footy).

Im thinking of buying the following dish-

Technomate 88cm Satellite Dish + 0.3 Digital LNB

And the following receiver -

TECHNOMATE 7655 2VA, which incorporates 2 Viaccess Slots.

Ok from what I have read I can pick up art sports via hotbird and need to purchase a 6 month viewing card.

Now what I am wishing to find out is will one of these art sport blue cards work in the viaccess slot on this receiver or do I need to get an additional cam? Also where are the best places to buy the cards from? I see official sites charge around £140-£160 for a six month art sport card, but on ebay you can pick one up for half that price. Are these ones on ebay likely to be dodgy, does anyone use people on ebay for their art cards??

My final query is what sort of reception do people get from art sports 1,2,3 and 4? Is the picture quality good? And does anyone happen to live in leeds or Yorkshire, is that a decent reception area?

Yes your card should work in the via slot. Cant tell you what the reception is like as I dont have Art. I look quiet a bit at tps foot.

tps foot and star are excellent for footy

And I think you need a bigger dish than 88cm to get ART. Have a look on lyngsat for their footprint.

I have an old 80cm sky analogue dish and I get a good signal of the art sport channels on hotbird, and I'm in Orkney (north of Scotland) so I would say an 88cm dish should be no problem where you are.

Davie, how long have you been in Orkney? My Uncle used to live there a few years ago. He had some island or something, which he apparently sold to an oil company. Any big rigs round there?

Thanks for the tips guys, sounds like the 88cm dish should be big enough to pick up art sports in my area.

Can anyone advise me if the art sport cards for sale on ebay are legit?
