I will have a fairly similar line up with the addition of MTI Highline and I will check if some of my IBUs still work. I am still waiting for the meter from Aliexpress and the GM 202+ that I had to order from Red Apple after the Falschlieferung by Amazon.de...
I have a satellite meter which I hardly use may be because I don't know how to properly use it. Can you or someone school me on the advantages associated with the use of a satellite meter over a normal receiver? It's a little off topic, but I hope I will be pardoned.

Sedea 80 cm, 1w 13e 19.2e Inverto IBU lnb
Channel Master 1.2m Diavolo lnb (Rimantized, motorized and "nested" at 5m from the floor)

Last night, I've made some tests with Channel Master 1.8M, trying to lock Es'hail 2 25.8e and using scalar ring (generally adding 1 or 2%)

IBU : 39%
Dur-line and Golden media 201+ : 41%
Inverto PLL : 46% (7.5 db SNR )

Only locking few frequencies on this sat, and only locking 10810 H with Inverto PLL !

I am very much an amateur so this is my first proper meter. My goal is to bring back BBC that I lost in January. I really need to fine tune the dish towards either 2E, 2F or 2G and select the very best LNB for the specific frequency on the best satellite. So I want to get the measurement data as I tweek the dish and LNB. I only have a built in receiver in my Philips tv. I have on occasion set up a camera in front of the tv, set the tv to show reception data S/Q and made a video call from where the dish is. I am buying a meter to hopefully make it a bit easier and more accurate...

William-1 who has tested a lot of lnbs said somewhere that with all the lnbs he had tested, the inverto premium pll was the best. Coupled with recent test here, I go straight to get the inverto premium pll. Thanks for your help.

I am interested in learning what makes the meter measurement or tracking more accurate than the ordinary receiver?

I did find a fairly recent test in the German paper F.A.Z. Test: Der beste LNB

The Dur-Line+ quad was slightly better than PLL in the test, but the best reception had a LNB from Humax. The Humax was not mentioned as winner because of a higher price tag.

@ymttt I am looking forward to get dB readings for transponders that are too weak to watch. It also provides for spectrum analysis. I do not know about how a meter and a receiver compare when it comes to accuracy. Can you get anything else than S/Q data from your receiver?

We can get one BBC ONE South HD from 2F most of the time but none of the other regions. It's worth checking them all. Had to add another dish for 15W.

Afternoon test (cloudy) with Laminas 150cm on 8W 12604H ( still no lock on 11013H, 11054H ):

IBU new : 68% SQ
Prenium PLL: 70% SQ
Golden Media 201+ : 70% SQ
(+ 1% when using calar ring)
@AtOM13, Is it possible to show a picture of the scaler ring that adds the 1% and what holds the lnb and cause it to lose 1%?

Scalar ring is an idea from @Beli1910

I use exactly the same ring.
I can't explain exactly how it works, but from my experience, there is no gain on dish under 150cm.

What about Inverto Ultra - Quad High-Gain PLL LNB ?
Is it better then inverto premium ?

Isn't Ultra better than Premium ?

I did some readings and it was said that scaler ring was good for offset dishes. My dish is prime focus so I guess I have to try another.

I have now run some tests on eight LNBs, including some of the favored types here in the forum like MTI Highline, Inverto Black Ultra Quad, Golden Media 202+ to Silvercrest (Lidl mysterious middle aisle brand). I have to admit that I am an amateur in this field, so handle the results accordingly. Here in my first post I will describe the setup.

I have used my fixed Gibertini 125 aimed at 28,2 E for the test, the position of the dish was not adjusted during the test. I mounted one LNB at the time and adjusted each LNB in the holder as it was connected to my meter (GTMEDIA V8 Finder PRO 2) to achieve maximum Signal and quality. I used 11344 MHz H/V transponders adjust the skew right for each LNB. I did the test when we had clear skies, in the afternoon (6 p,m.) when I expect the signal to be fairly stable. We usually have a drop in signal between 11 a.m. and 2 p,m.

For the test, I measured signal (S) and quality (Q) in the loop mood of the meter, measuring for five different transponders:
10714 H
10935 V
11126 V
10818 V
11305 H

I tried the following LNBs (time of purchase within brackets):
Durline +Ultra single (new)
Golden Media 202+ (new)
Inverto Premium single PLL (new)
Inverto Black Ultra quad (2015)
Schwaiger Single (2020)
MTI Highline twin (2011)
Silvercrest quad (Lidl middle aisle, 2010)
GTsat quad (2010)

I would like to assess the results carefully and with help from the forum. We also need to consider that some of the included LNBs are new, others have been used for a long time. MY MTI has been installed on the dish for more than a decade whereas my Inverto Black Ultra (IBU) quad has been in my storage room for most of the time.

According to my measurements, the Golden Media 202+ shows very good results. The results for the IBU quad are on a good second place. For the MTI Highline, the results are a bit disappointing and shows that I was wrong about my assessment. The biggest difference was observed for 11126 MHz V , where Inverto Premium PLL and MTI Highline struggled to lock. Golden Media 202+ showed superior performance on that frequency.

To my disappointment, I would not get a lock on any of the BBC transponders. This despite achieving 88% signal on Golden Media 202+. I am after all far from a pro on satellite dish installations and would be thankful for any advice on to get BBC...LNB_test2.png

Thank you for your tests. I see that you are testing 28.2E. I have personally tested a huge number of Lnbs. For tele satellite, the megasat diavlo red and invacom twin flange lnb give me the best results. For many years I was a fan of the invert black ultra on a motorized system - but for the last couple of years, I've been using megasat diavlo red exclusively because it's the best on the whole clark. The bulleye lnb is also a good option, but it's more expensive than red diavlo x 6. So my choice for 28 e is diavlo.

Thank you for your advice, the SR was obviously wrong in my meter. It was however not a miracle cure and I still do not have the BBC transponders locked. I would be thankful for any further advice on adjusting my setup!

FM Gibertini. I am no expert when it comes to using your V8 Finder Pro2 but I wonder if its looking only for DVB-S signals? On 10818V the signal is DVB-S2 with a symbol rate of 23000 and 8psk. I wonder if you can edit its channel list to reflect this? SimonE

It can handle DVB-S2, I did adjust skew with signal from 11344H which is DVB-S2 8PSK SR 27500 FEC 2/3. I had lock and could watch ITV HD In the meter. I always seem to struggle with 8PSK 3/4, both on the instrument and with my satellite receiver.
