I've got an ART white card with 6 months subscription . Have just read it will need to be intialised before 1st Jan or it won't work.
Anybody Know if this is true?

I haven't heard that but I'll let you know if I see anything. Normally they are effective from the first insert when they initialise.

I think its more to do with the lack of any guarantee the broadcaster will know how long it keeps V2.5 in the New Year (or the idea that BSkyB lawyers might take objection to the coverage with no money - creaming - sorry, flowing back into their pockets).

Six months is actually quite a good card to have, most here get kanckered after two months and a day, use it and be grateful while it lasts.
