I am trying to reset my default transponder setting so that my box will focus on the South beam rather than the North. My default frequency is 11778 and every time I reset this to a South Beam only frequency when I back up out of the menu it bounces back to the 11778 default. Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to do this?

You've probably just forgotten to "Save New Settings" before "Backup".

If you are saving it and it's reverting back to 11.778, then this means you have reception of the North beam but unlikely on such a small dish.

Thanks Tivu for the advice, it is something that on occassion I am likely to do but for this I have always made sure to save my settings!

I have checked the footprints for North and South beams via the astra website the North beam has moved away from Corfu since August this year, whilst the South beam has got a lot stronger. This means that my 1.2 metre dish will no longer receive ITV and Ch 4 off the North beam but should have no problem getting them off the South, if indeed they do have a South beam frequency!!!!

I do know that the new Ch 5 frequencies are on the South beam and we are receiving them perfectly, along with the new ITV+1 fequencies, even though they have given up on testing these!!!

I have also checked with Astra the status of my default frequency and they say that the one I have is for the North beam, so I'm finding the whole thing very confusing!

Could I improve my chances of getting a better signal by moving my dish fraction perhaps?

you may not be able to get the DT to stay on the frequency you input, and it really does not matter...

anytime you press the Guide, Service, Interactive or Box offixc buttons on the Sky remote, the box will automatically loook for frequency 11778. this is because on this frequency sites the EPG backgound music, which plays ( or tries to play) whenever you access the menus).

Also once you have a picture on your screen it makes no difference what default transponder frequency you have, as you box will look at the relevant frequency for the channel you are watching and will override whatever default frequency you have input - so if you are watching sky news the box looks at frequency 12207, for bbc news it will use 11954., if you go to eurosport2 it will use eurosports 2 frequency on the north beam!

the box will override the default transponder freqquency you input and use one of the other 90 or so frequencies it needs to for the channel you want to watch!

Forget the ITV1 +1 frequencies - that launch has been postponed indefinitely so theres no hope of the channels appearing any time soon.
