[QUOTE="william-1, post: 900021, member: 193781"] Astra 5A failed in orbit in 2009. After control over the spacecraft had been re-established at the beginning of April 2009, the satellite was put into graveyard orbit. The satellite went physically out of control on 22 October 2008. According to Rapid TV News, the satellite by 5 November 2008 was back at its 31.5 degrees slot and working nominally. SES said they do not suspect any fundamental technical flaw to be the root cause for the outage, and that they could not rule out an operator error (i.e. human failure). In April 2008, Sirus 2 (originally a DTH satellite) was relocated to the 31.5 degrees East position and renamed Astra 5A. It was mainly used for feeds to cable headends in Germany and Eastern Europe.
