Bad luck for the Irish - they were robbed by a cheating Henry and failed by FiFA

How long will it take util they do something about cheats and bad refereeing? I am disgusted to my core by this travesty. As always, FIFA will do nothing, as they are corrupt, decadent and impotent.

And Henry? I saw his smirking at the final whistle, that man is a disgrace. He knew exactly what he was doing, so at least don't celebrate as if you won it honestly. ************!!!

The linesmen should have seen it, Henry is a cheating b****** and he knows it. He should be banned from the group stage at least.

Next summer FIFA must go with goal area assistants, like what UEFA have in the Europa League. Henry wouldn't have got away with it then, and could you imagine if this happened in the final in Jo'burg and we had the wrong world champions? We simply must have goal area assistants.

Agreed 100%.

I watched the game on the French TF1 channel and they knew it was cheating - you could tell by the sheepishness - even during the post game Sarko interview.

As an Irish/Brit who lives in France, I am furious.

The beautiful game? I think not.

They can be racist here - except when the lads win - and qualify for South Africa !

Henry let his teamates down today. And made a (nother) million for himself.

What did the commentators on TF1 say when they replayed the goal?

I watched it on RTE..

They came up with a brilliant way to stop what Henry done..

Firstly.. the ref asks Henry did he handle the ball..
If Henry says no.. he did not.. and then the cameras prove that he did handle the ball
Henry would be suspended for 8 competitive International games..

This would mean that Henry would miss all of the world cup if this had been in place.. and he had denied the hand ball..

What you guys think about this.. ??

Ireland are still out, aren't they? Whether Henry is suspended or not means sod all to the Irish.

No, we need goal area assistants, they would have seen that immediately and informed the ref. Not that, I suspect Henry, would have tried it if an additional assistant had been there. It's the only practical way to stop these incidents.

Gutted. Thats about all I can muster for now. Gutted. Cheated by my favourite player too. Never mind Henry, did you see the look on Gallas' face. He knew too.

Truth be told Ireland should have killed them off b4 Extra time. Still, I had a nice bet on at 6/1 to win the game in 90 mins.

I am disgusted by the constant wrong decisions that are ruining the games. Refs are not up to it anymore, and FIFA are doing nothing. The game's pace has changed by 100%, yet 120 years since the rules of football were invented the ref is still exactly the same. But because the corrupt criminal Blatter and his evil evil sidekick Platini got what they wanted, nothing will be done. After all, they wanted Barcelona in the CHL final, and they wanted France in the world cup, and they got that.

You would stop the cheating, the wrong decisions, everything.

The referee and his assistant(s) have a lot to answer for; Trappatoni made an important point --- that an experienced referee should have asked Henry!

As for Henry, I think his 'mistake/cheat' was in not owning up (immediately or on realising referee had not cottoned); I say this because I believe that in such situations it is an instinctive reaction to handle the ball ---- believe it or not, he might not have 'intended' to handle!

I have a few French friends, these are dear and lovely people. But, I have been to France many times and I cannot say I generally enjoyed the experience there because I did not agree with the attitude of people towards me. I suppose it is a matter of personal opinion, but I believe there are many many people around the world that would agree with me. The perceived view of the French is one of self centred people, a country with a pronounced disregard for other people or opinions other than theirs. as I said, it's my personal opinion. Nothing to do with football.

Now here is the thing. What would happen if the president of France, of the self claimed Grand Nation, would suddenly appear in a world wide press conference and say: "I have seen the game, seen the reply and I am troubled that we have qualified that way. We are a great nation who are proud of our heritage, and proud to be considered fair and sporting in everything we do. I therefore ask FIFA to order the game to be replayed in neutral territory."

Would I be impressed? Yes.
Would that change the way people think of France and the French? Yes.
Would this be still talked about in 100 years as a sign of great sportsmanship? Yes.
Would anyone have anything to lose from that (other than qualification)? No
even the evil and corrupt mupppets in charge of the game would benefit from it - this in itself is bad but I would take it.

So, Mr. Sarkozy - go and make history and be remembered for centuries, not just for being the husband of a sexy woman!
