Badr-4 @ 26 east some transponders are proving difficult,

For example TV5 Monde Magreb Orient 12073 H 27500 working OK for me with a 100cm dish but some members here cannot get this transponder in Europe, A larger dish will sometimes overcome this problem,

The main problem is the Astra power house @ 28.2 east due to this I cannot lock onto some transponders from 26 east,
I hope this information helps you to improve your reception.

An idea occurs to me, probably crazy, (the idea, me, or both) which would be to place a thin vertical pole very near the dish to block out the offending satellite only. So I would focus my dish on Badr, choose the unobtainable TV5MONDE frequency and experiment with a broom(!) while watching the signal quality...

Wouldn't make a lot of difference unless the broom handle is the same width as your dish.

Over 10 years ago, sat dx'ers were struggling to get 2 Russian transponders of 40°E Express-AM1 with 100...120 cm dishes.
Interference came from both sides: 39°E and 42°E.
By placing small PVC pieces in front of the LNB, the interfering satellites were suppressed enough to get reception of 40°E.
Maybe it will work in this situation as well (23.5°E - 26.0°E - 28.5°E).
But in this case it probably must be shorter, because the satellites are less close to each other.
Note that it could only benefit a fixed installation, because the piece causes some attenuation in the main direction as well!
Grabbed below picture from dxtv.de (deepbluesky).
I still have such PVC piece laying here, it's 5 cm diameter, 2 cm long, with two cut-out gaps of about 30°.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Could make something like that from a suitably sized & shaped plastic tumbler + some duct tape to hold it in place!

Moving the dish a fraction of a degree to the west of BAdr 4 is the usual method of dropping Astra 2 signals sufficiently to lock.

well, this didn t work I ended up by catching some data things from 23east(mostly Dutch & Czech seem to use it)
Now,one thing is,I use a 6° monoblock, could this be part of the problem?

Ah!!!! Oh yes that will be a problem,
To get 26 east you need a single Lnb set up I can recommend an Inverto Black Ultra 0.2.

Perhaps I should have mentioned 'motorised systems'

I dunno, a few years ago I was tinkering with my motorised set up (1.2m dish on a Dark motor Diseqc/USALS) with the dish pointed at 26E, and noticed that standing at a position to the right while facing the front of the dish about 2 metres away saw the SNR rise by approx. 1db on a number of transponders - turned out these were on transponders that were on the same freq & polarity as transmissions also being used at 28.2E, as the transponders on Badr 4 which did not have an equal frequency transmission had no change in their SNR levels. Presumably from where I stood, the transmissions from 28E were being blocked by my body, but those from 26E were still coming in well enough with no apparent drop in signal strength. So if a dish was fixed at 26E for Badr 4 reception, a careful positioning of an object that is big enough - but not too big, might help with adjacent co-channel interference from say 28E or even 23.5E. This obviously isn't suitable for a motorised set up however, and the suggestions already mentioned here about gradually nudging the dish west of 26E (say 0.1 degree at a time) until you get the best SNR as a compromise is the easiest to carry out.

I’ve got the fixed dish well centered on 26 degrees, and connected my Freesat receiver to check that Sky News, very strong here, wasn’t breaking through on 12207, and it wasn’t, so I think the dish is discriminating well, but perhaps is just not large enough yet.
I agree that Inverto Black Ultra single is a great LNB, but when experimenting I think it’s not a bad idea to try all the other LNBs you have lying around. One of them might be better suited to a specific dish or frequency...

Yes an Lnb change is a good idea I have just changed over to a Golden Media 201-0.1 on the 100cm Gibbertini & am very pleased with the results.

I fully agree with you there ... its a case of finding a good dish/l,n,b match - I,v found the Black Ultra is often the best, but not always.
