Same with apparent jamming of signals from across the borders in middle Eastern countries. microwave fences were more expensive than digging a hollow to put everything inside.One of the selling points of my old Winegard 3m was its interference rejection due to its depth (f/d 0.25). 5G wasn't an issue in 1989 though but radar altimeters were and still can be.
Pickup through the IF cable - in particular verticals - on buildings meant very few dishes were put on roofs.
