Agreed..get that AZ/EL mount up on a pole on 40W C Band see what you get. Then you could motorise it.

i can see now why @Channel Hopper was surprised that my polar mount was so rusty - this AZ/EL mount doesnt have an fleck of rust on it. I standby what i said though, it has to be an original CM polar mount that i have, exact same as @nelson_b

Yes, that is what they should look like, even after a decade outdoors.

Coastal installations will take their toll, but nowhere near as bad as your one.

he was running a 1m CM off it - man, overkill - it makes my SMR-128G running my 1.2 CM look like a toy.

yes, i realise that, my polar mount setup, isnt going anywhere soon.
i guess it depends on the extreme arcs too, the dish becomes A LOT heavier at the extreme ends of the ARC - no way could the 1224 cope on a 1.8m CM at 58w to 54e

I had AS1800 on the beefed up 1224 (Jumbo) but I found that the exposed location really didn't work with the dish. Any minor breeze and the dish would wobble around enough to lose signal. Would be OK in a sheltered location though

I had one of those. I spent weeks trying to dial the tuning in of the petals... Never again.
