We had just moved in the late Summer of 1962 from a small mining village near Durham (Bowburn) to Stockton on Tees. From time to time we travelled back along the A177 to visit relatives. It's very clear in my memory that the snow drifts (through which a path had been cleared) were level with the top floor of the United double decker. I can't recall it being as cold as now, though we had moved from a colliery house to a modern semi with central heating and an inside toilet!</p></blockquote><p></p>
