Best Mate Died Today.

The racehorse Best Mate died today aged 10yrs. Suspected heart attack. Winner of 3 Cheltenham gold cups. Sad day for racing.

I agree john. At least Henrietta had Racing Demon win as some consolation.

I hope you dont think im being disrespectful, but what do people do when a horse dies? Do they cremate it or bury it or what?

Mostly cremated, though the owners don't get the ashes - they have to go to a licenced animal burial site.

Red Rum though was buried near the Aintree winning post.

Another famous jumper, Arkle, has his skeleton on display in a museum somewhere. Don't know what happened to the rest of him though

Best mate was to be buried at Exeter racecouse where he died, but EU regulations won't allow this to happen. Probably be cremated.

Some Hunting kennels used to feed the remains of knackered horses to the hounds (probably still do),
