Help Required Best place to buy a genuine dreambox?

Hi guys,

Currently I have an Openbox V8S operating my motorized dish. I've pretty much just discovered though that the box could be a clone as the seller on eBay I bought it from advised me not to update the firmware or it would break the box. (Despite the listing stating it was genuine. Currently trying to dispute it).

I've since been researching other boxes and one that I keep hearing about is the Dreambox. One of the features that really tempts me here is the ability to stream live tv to my PC from the receiver - especially if it means I can stream a live 4:2:2 feed and have it viewable on my PC through VLC.

I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction on where I can pick up a genuine model and what I need to do to get the streaming working. Are they harder to setup than the Openbox?

Loads of boxes out there. I think it is best to avoid Ebay unless the seller also has a website and go through there. One good thing about Ebay and the likes is you get little hassle if the item is unsuitable. Look here, lots of thoughts.

Most Linux based receivers, including Dreamboxes, and most of the VU+ range, should be capable of what you require, loaded with the right image, and addons.
A lot depends on your budget, and requirements, 1, 2 or 4 LNB imputs, internal hard drive, for PVR, etc..
There are plenty of guides, and tools, to assist setting up a Linux based receiver, and there should be plenty of help, on the forum.

SMSSat in Camberley would probably be your nearest supplier for Genuine Dreamboxes

Maybe I can expand on my options Will any Enigma2 receiver allow me to stream a channel live to my PC? My main want is to be able to stream 4:2:2 feeds to VLC which I'm hoping would decode them.

I was looking at something like this

Not sure if its USALS compatible though

OK I'm almost sold on this box, having read that it is Enigma2 compatible. Are there any signs to look out for though to see if the box is actually genuine or a clone?
