I am undertaking a self-build house development in Northumberland.
Roof, 4 walls no stairs, ceilings, plaster or insulation!! I have the opportunity to do it as right as my budget will allow. In camera terms I can't afford or justify Leica or Nikon/Canon Professional but want good quality. I want satellite television outlets in every room 4 reception and 3 beds - not Sky! At the moment our need is for HD and UK stations but who knows about the future.

I know everyone has their own preferences regarding hardware and equipment but any advice regarding do's and dont's, your experience and hints and tips and finally things that are worth doing and things that aren't. I have already bought enough CT100 and TS100B (twin cable) to wire the whole of the UK.

Just joined the forum so hello to you all.

Thanks Mark

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Maybe a good idea to run at least 2 runs of CT100 to each room from the loft, possiby3. This will give you plenty of scope for later on for adding twin tuner sat receivers for satellite and one for terrestrial. Sat and terrestrial can also be combined down one cable and used via a triplexer wall plate.

Also label the cable ends well, so you know where they go.

Many thanks - 3 cables to each outlet is now in my plan.

Any thoughts about the satellite system - dish, multiswith etc?

Thanks

Mark

7 rooms 2 sat points in each, the simplest would be a 5x16 multiswitch, plus an 80cm dish + quattro LNB. You'd probably get away with a 60cm dish for a 'normal' house.

You could either run the tv aerial separately or feed into the switch, in which case only two runs to each room needed.
