I never use the front switch - now you mention it, I seem to recall in the mists of time something similar happened to me using it instead of the rear switch.Opening the machine earlier to check the capacitors inside, I was surprised how clean and dust-free it was, considering it has been on the open bottom shelf of the TV stand and operating continuously for many years.
