I have a Zone 1 dish on the bracket below (pic in next post) that was installed by Sky. It is 12' x 18" and 3mm thickness.

The dish currently sits about 80cm above the top of the bracket on a 1.25" pole that is 1mm thick. It is on a single story extension, with the dish above the gutter.

I am thinking of upgrading the dish to a Zone 2 (or maybe even a round dish). Would such a bracket and pole be suitable, or should I upgrade them too? I have had a look on the aerials and tv website, and as expected, this pole does seem to bend fairly easily. I have a scaffold pole that I could attach and use a pole-to-pole clamp to mount a Zone 2 dish. But I am unsure whether the current bracket (fitted with coach screws) would be able to handle a scaffold pole plus dish.

Thanks

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Those brackets are actually very solid. The issue is normally the distances between each of the two coachbolts and if they are in brickwork or the mortar.

I doubt you will have an issue upgrading to a larger size Sky dish but you could add a second bracket underneath if you are concerned about high winds.

The zone 2 dish clamp to my knowledge won't go onto a 2 inch pole.

I have a Zone 2 on a cheap aluminium pole about 70cm above the bracket. It jiggles a bit in strong winds but survived storm Arwen without issue.

Going off on a tangent, what is the perceived need to change the status quo (other vintage rockers are available)?

I’m going to swap the lnb on the current dish for a Unicable.

If the signal loss from the splitters and using a round lnb on an elliptical dish causes any picture issues, then I might upgrade the dish to a Zone 2 (or possibly a round dish).
