I've also read on various posts that the Black Ultra quad is not as good as the single or twin, but I've not used a quad so don't know how much difference there is. One thing I do agree with is that the Black Ultra doesn't seem to work as well with horizontals compared to verticals.

Turn it round 90 degrees and reverse the polarity and you will have the good V performance on the poor H band!

It is likely due to the additional switch insertion loss and entropy of the quad. That suggests the single LNBs should be best, but then there is manufacturing variation to take into account and muddy the waters!

It is possible that the main input from the dipole to the first stage is from the vertical polarity and the horizontal taps into that so there is more loss and entropy on the horizontal.

It may sound a daft thing to do but it will be a lifesaver to someone desperate to get their favourite channels!

I am happy to announce that all the frequencies of Bulsatcom (and Hellas Sat 2 in general, except 2 tps on F2 beam) are perfectly receivable on a 2.4m Channel Master in Bahrain, 24/7. Many thanks to all the guys for the support and shared knowledge. Pictures and details to follow.

I can upload some screenshots only as of yet, but tomorrow I will take some pictures of the installation. The triax twin outperformed again the black ultra.. The last picture was taken yesterday and since then I've managed to squeeze this tp up to 12.4db. This is, as expected the strongest frequency on this beam.

Nice dish but the base looks a bit flimsy for such a heavy dish.

This was the best I could find here, but I am considering additional support struts. The base itself is quite thick though - 10mm of steel.

It was the fixing point I was thinking of. I don't know how much wind you get but the bolts might be the weak point, I'd be a little concerned that they might work themselves lose over time.
