C1 PLL offset on my 1.5 - New approach

..Well ..not new ...but new for me.
Previously this lnb was offset to the East of focus by about 8 or 9 degrees..
Yes it worked but very limited in what it could see.
So in light of the earlier mods to include elevation control I am experimenting with mounting above the XMW at the focus ...
Problem of course is that I have to make sure the conical feed does not mask the Ka lnbs .....thus I am restricted by proximity ..and to avoid masking have raised it up a good way.
There may be room to reduce the height but not a helluva lot.
I estimate the C1PLL is currently about 4 to 5 degrees above the focus.
..and am currently pointing at 5W..and getting some signals.
My question for those who have tried this already either E-W or N-S of the focus on a 1.5 is just what you can receive at 5W and at what level ...so I have something to compare to.

This project was conceived before my recent MS relapse ..but was feeling well enough today to fit the bracket and try it out..

Nudged Carl Eastward to 1W..and managed a lock on BBC Africa feed at 4.1 db...
So probably as good as it gets for tweaking..

Looks like my Windows installation, from which I do my sat scans, died. Trying to repair it but may well end up reinstalling the whole thing. Not an issue... but you may need to wait for the full scan.

As for the frequencies you mentioned, on the F15... 4154V - 9dB (unlocked).. I NEVER managed to lock this one.
3727R - 8.7dB - locked

1W BBC Africa feed - 3.8dB - locked

The answer is twofold..
Curiosity .....and I still hold out hopes of one day receiving ANYTHING from 46E and/or 49E in Cband..
Sadly Christina cannot see anything at these locations due to the troublesome tree....
but Carl has a slight advantage in that it can see around the tree trunk in the winter months after de-foliation has taken place.
Carl is only a 1.5m dish of course ..so ANY slight gain advantage I can give him at these two locations might just tip the balance.

I finally reinstalled Windows/sat-card/EBS Pro and am scanning 5W now. Will post back shortly.

I would scan a council letter head and type something out why the tree has to be removed/restricted to a certain height and send it through the post looking very official, its worked for me in the past ;).

The setup is working as well as can be expected ...with signals received at 20E 3E 1W 5W ..
Not tried beyond this yet Eastward ..due to leafage on the TT ...but am all set and ready to go once the foliage decreases ..

Just curious about 3E, hasn't that been moved to 8w? If not then I have lost a sattelite.

Yep you are correct mate ..
It may well have been Christina on which I received 3E ...
I get confused mate ..
Old age creeping up on me ..
20E 1W and 5W were definately received on Carl tho.

1w is my hardest to lock 99% of the time all I get is the data stream. A couple of times the bbc feed.

A good day to see what the offset vertically C1 PLL makes of 55W I think..
I'm not expecting miracles but would expect something ??

attached is a horizontal scan using the TBS6925..

Attached the same scans using the TBS6983 in Blind scan mode ...as yet no RF scan sadly..
but fairly conclusive I think that the tuner is indeed that bit more sensitive..
