You can't - regardless of the "legality" etc, the 28E Satellite position is simply not visible to you.

Wrong! From Central India 28 East is at 28 degrees elevation, that's better than anywhere in the UK. Lots of people watch stuff from 19 East and 13 East, and 1 West is above the horizon.

"Visible" was perhaps a bad choice of word. I thought it might be easier for the OP to grasp as opposed to talk of Footprints etc .............

So what size Dish do you propose the gentleman uses (Especially taking into account Astra 2D)?

That's not what the OP asked. Anyway most of the stuff in Hindi is on 2A South. What Indian channels are there on 2D?

Errm, the chap mentioned a Pace BSkyB2400 Receiver and FTV Card, and I can't think of much else other than UK TV from 28E (whatever the source language of any preferred Channels) that that proposed system would be of any value for.

The only FTV Channels that the Card referred to will get (over and above the FTA offerings) are English Language (EPG Placements for Channel Four and Five, plus access to Fiver, Five US, Sky Three and Setanta Sports News).

No doubt he will clarify in due course.

Not for 28E there isnt :D

Anyway hes in India - theres no shortage of Hindi channels on the Indian sats easily visible to him.

The OP asked for info using an ftv card ergo hes after the British entertainment channels.

That stb is practically useless for any other satellite other than 28.2/5 East. The stb is designed that way to stop it being used for other satellites. You would be limited to 50 channels maximum and only able to receive channels with FEC and SR of 27500-2/3 and 22000-5/6 only and no others, as Analoguesat says, take it outside and put it in a bucket of water.

As regards your dish who knows, but I have never seen any Indian reports of receiving 28.2 on even a 12 foot dish

Any cheap one from the local shop will do you for free to air reception. You might be better off asking in the Indian sub section - the lads there will be able to give you a better idea of whats available in India.
