Why don't you try it and find out?

Mate i have tried.I have had conflicting advice, the one yes the other no.If i can, i suspect that it could be a fault with the sat receiver or the Monitor requires a software update. My HDMI cable is OK.
Perhaps our super Moderator Robbo can impart his knowledge.

Well, it should work shouldn't it. If the monitor is capable of showing HD inputs and has an HDMI input.

My knowledge is limited to suck it and see I'm afraid with regards to HDMI.

But, 1st off obviously, you need to establish where the problem lies, i.e with the receiver or the monitor. I suggest you find another TV to try, one that you know that works. Or try a different box, you know that works with HDMI.

I have come accross TVs that didn't work though and required the hdmi input to be enabled in a menu. Another that was simply not compliant as it was fairly old.

Does the monitor have speakers? I have heard that some receivers will refuse to acknowledge the HDMI compliant TV/monitor if there is no sound circuitry.

Go to the setup menu of your HD satellite receiver and enable the HDMI output. It should be set to what the monitor is capable of, ie. 720p, 1080i, 1080p. Hope this work for you.

Thanks Mate.
I see the Samsung PC Monitor is capable of 1080P.The video resolution on my satellite receiver gives,480 /576/720 i and P,1080i and 1080 i-30 and By source and By native tv. I dont know what the last two means. In view of the fact that i dont have 1080P ,does it mean i am snookered.
