Hi everyone, i have a problem with my sky tv setup.
I fitted a sky dish myself and had sky tv working fine. one day i got home from work and the sky had gone off stating " no satellite signal is been recieved" so i checked the signal input and signal strength in the services menu which proved i had no signal i think because the dish had moved slightly.
I have adjusted the dish while having the signal strength menu on and now the signal is more than half way across the bar and the quality bar is halfway too but im still getting no satellite signal when i try to select a channel or view the tv guide.
i have spoke to sky who have gone through certain things with me like turning off the LNB power and i have even tried to reset the system software on the box.
any suggestions ?

Hi mate welcome to the forum

If the dish was misaligned it will only have been a matter of a couple of mm or so out. If you moved it more than that then the most common problem is you have found the next next satellite cluster along the arc, and the box has locked onto the signals from that one.

i did buy a cheap satellite finder from asda with leds on but it just seems to bleep when i attach it to the cable and dish.

Slacken the bolts off and move it back!

Mark everything up before you start with an indelible pen / tippex etc so if you get hopelessly lost you can reset and start again.

Never used one of those beeper meters, (although I do have one in a box somewhere) but general instructions in their use can be found on the forum if you do a search for beep or beeper.

It's more than likely Astra 23.5 east or 19 east. They are strong sats and are relatively easy to find using a minidish. I'd personally try pointing the dish a bit further to the east and hopfully you'll find Asta 28.2 east where the UK channels are.

That is a tall question without a more sophisticated meter. There are a few grouped around. You need to look at 28.2 which are the ones used on Astra by Sky.

Nice one :)

No mark everything up so if it moves again you can put it back :)

If you find the signal drops out in rain you might need to tweak it a bit - no more than a couple of mm in any direction though! (Slight pressure on the back edges of the dish will deflect it enough to either destroy reception totally or improve things)
