cant find transponders??????? HELP

Hi there

ive got a 7020 and im trying toget it set up 3 weeks ive been on it...
got it all set up got new image on it .. but when i scan its not finding any transponders .....
gone through the idiots guide but must be missing something ..would be greatfull for any ... detailed assistance...on setting this up..
if any one can help give me your tele no and ill call back or text me on REMOVED 1 year without tv mmm getting desperate.......

It sounds like you haven't set the dish up correctly.

Did you set 1W or 5W as your Southerly most satellite? Did you use a sat meter? Have you read the Idiot's Guide?

not sure if it was set at 1 or 5 brother inlaw had a technomate that worked fine
when we put that up
what about doing a reset would this help then do a set up again from start to finish?????

Which satellite is the dish pointing at? Are you using gotoXX or are you manually finding and storing the satellite positions?

The symptoms you describe are occur when you try to scan 28.2E but the dish is pointing at 19.2E or anywhere but 28.2E

you hit the nail on the head... i am using gotoxx how do i put this right....

The long way is to use stored positions. I think it's in the Guide but briefly:

Go to Menu > service searching > motor setup

(A screengrab of yours will help if you don't resolve this).

Mode: drive to zero

and press go

Then change the mode to position and select 1W:

Satellite: 1W
Drive the motor to zero.

Mode: Position
Satellite: 1W

then use the < > arrows to move the dish until you get a lock. STORE the position (I use the same number as the satellite).

Then SEARCH.

Repeat for 13E, 19E, 28E, storing the position for each.

If you use gotoXX you shouldn't have to do it but I couldn't get it to work with my 7020 (and it doesn't work at all with a 500s).

when i go into mode do not have a 1w .... where is it ....got to moving to ozero should it lock on this if not where do i go then...

Mode is just position, drive to zero and a few others.

SATELLITE has the list of satellites. In laymen's terms you drive the motor back to zero so you have a fixed position.

Then you change the MODE back to position, select the satellite from the list next to SATELLITE.

Then you move the motor (dish) using the < > arrows (these move the dish east and west).

When you get a lock on the satellite you chose, you store it's position and then go to the next menu screen and scan it.

The Dreambox is very fussy about dish positioning - what works with another receiver doesn't with a Dreambox. I fine tune my elevation on 1W using a sat meter before finding positions and scanning - it makes a big difference.

It is also not a quick/ easy thing to do first time. It took me two weeks to do the first time, mainly because what I thought was my 1W position was actually 5E (they use some of the same transponder numbers).
