1. you need to Menu, setup/expert setup/communication setup,
2. Untick DHCP, leave it like that & tick enable network
3. Install the relevant ips, you must give your DB7020 its own ip
My IP 192.***.0.100 (this may differ from your own ip but the last number should be anything over 20)
4. Set the third line to LAN
5. Netmask/subnetmask will be 255.255.255.0 ( this is common to nearly all computers.
6. The Last two lines, 192.***.0.*** will be your computers default gateway which are both the same
192.***.0.***
7.Set port to 21 or 80 the most popular settings
8. Press green to save settings, exit screen & go back in to check that settings have ben saved.
9. You will find the relevant ips if you type into you computers cmd
centre,
start/run/ in the box type cmd
press enter, a black box will appear, type only this command,
ipconfig
this is where you will type in your own ips to replace my own above
The first ip you will type in DB7020 the first three rows, the last being 100 as I explained above:)

The most important thing is to get used to the idea !

Think of it as a computer, running Ubuntu (anything but Windows)

It´s waiting for a command. Won´t do nothing until told to do

Start by making contact from Lappie to Dreambox.

Star the box by pressing the left down button - and hold it until You see a IP adress in the window. This is the box IP, make a note of it.

Now, if this is a fresh box You must start by uploading an image - if it is use I think it is there allready.

When You have the IP You can connect to the box using that IP addy.

Do You use a cable or a router ?

don't want to appear rude, but have you connected it to a dish yet.

A good choice of receiver - Ive got one and its great once you get your head around it.

Which satellite(s) is your dish pointing at?

Sort the communications out then get the box working on the fta stuff.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the above has been done correctly your computer should be able to talk to the DB7020 throught an FTP programme ie:- Globalscape Cute Pro, or some other FTP Prog so that you can upload Cams & new keys etc into the rec. this is one of the ways to install the new keys, other ways are through installing a plugin if your dreambox is connected to the net all the time & saves a lot of time by directly retrieving the new keys & installs them, this is all done by going into the blue button menu, press blue button/plugins/key downloader or something similar.

If you bought your DB7020 new you may well have to change the image to support plugins & addons etc.
I would recomend PB-Enigma V2 as it has a really good blue button menu for updating cam, keys, plugins & other stuff,
most other images usually need the plugin for key downloading,

Are you using a router? Is your Dreambox connected to it?

You only need to connect the Dreambox to a laptop when you flash it.

Please describe your setup and what you've done so far if you want us to help you.

Image? Installed CCcam? Does it have Internet access? Motor?

Hi there, not sure if this should be posted as a new thread but I have the same problems as ad1711.
Ive had my 7020Si for a number of months and been using it as it came out of the box. I now have some time to get it working as it should be :) I have gone through the idiots guide in particular the thread written up by MHKU on the comms setup, I must be missing something some where.

Setup:
Dreambox 7020 Si
Motorised dish - Eurobird, Astra, Hotbird, Eutelsat, Turksat etc (all channels working)
Enigma image, not sure what version though

Laptop settings
IP Address 192.168.2.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.2.1

Dreambox Settings
Ip Address 192.168.2.23 (DCHP unticked)
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Type LAN
Nameserver 192.168.2.1
Gateway 192.168.2.1
Networking enabled

I have changed the default settings on the dreambox through the communication setup menu, as explained within the idiots guide. The new settings remain after several reboots, however, when I hold the front button down upon startup I do not get an IP address, it just reads DHCP on the front panel, although this has been unchecked within the communication setup menu?

I have tried connecting to the box through a number of apps but no joy? Any ideas?

Comms methods tried (directly via laptop through ethernet cable to Dreambox)
1) Ping from Laptop to Dreambox via command prompt on laptop, timeout.
2) Connecting through IE by specifying the IP address of the Dreambox, cannot find server.
3) Wanted to save the channels before I done anything so I created a new profile within DreamBoxEdit app and specifedthe ip address of the dreambox and using port 80, connection failure

If your using the original software that came with the box you will not have much success,
you will have to flash the box with another image file which I & others have mentioned above. I also have had experienced a prob when DB7020 does not see router & have had to disable routers own firewall, only do this if your computer has a good firewal & AV, have even tried port forwarding, keep trying anyway,
