I have acquired a panasonic dsb30 with a card reader problem. when i put in a known good card it says "there is a problem with your card etc". Does anyone know anything about these readers? I have covered an old card with lint free cloth and used it as a cleaning tool with isopropyl alcohol to no avail. Any help appreciated. Any ideas on price of a repair?

It may not be the card reader, I had a similar problem with my DSB30. When you say it is "a known good card" is the card a SKY subscription card, or is it some FTA card? Assuming you have a good signal (??) from the Astra satellites have you tried a forced download? Or you could try:
Services
System Setup
0,1, Select
New Installation
Channel Scan

What software version is showing in system details? If it is not a late version this could be your problem.

A forced download will usually install the current version of the software.

On the Pana 30 in the system details menu, model number (latest version) is 1.1.K

Thank you both. A forced download has solved the problem. The next problem is what do I do about my sore bum after kicking myself so much for not thinking about it? :)

Don't worry about it, we've all been there, Hi! Pleased all is OK now. The nice
thing about this website is that you CAN ask anything, and someone will
always come forward and help if they can. I've had lots of help from others
on here, and it beats paying local installers/experts for the answers! I don't
know who set up the website (?), but he/she deserves a big vote of thanks.
