Hello everyone
I would like to test C-band reception on my Channel Master 1m20.
I have the LNB and the special scalar ring for offset antenna.
What modification do you recommend?
My LNB is not 5G, is this a real problem?
Which satellite for testing?
THANKS

My Satellite Setup
OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Custom built PC
My Location
Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
It's kind of hard to get good "C" band signals on a dish smaller then 2 meters, a good "C" band LNB would help, low loss coax would help also, but it's going to be location and size of dish.

Satbeams dot com will give you an idea on what size dish would be needed for "C" band satellites at your location.

Firstly, install the LNB in such a way that its phase center is co-located with the antenna's focal point. Then move the antenna across the whole Clark belt satellites and see what can be receivable. Do not forget to show some pictures. Good luck.

about ten years ago I installed an LNB band C (with modification to avoid the scala ring) on my channel Master 1.20 offset from the focal point, on 40° East there was good reception.

So far I haven't caught anything.
I think 1m20 is too small.

Have you set the video to inverted?

You should be able to get something from 40°E, I was able to get most transponders using a CM 1.2m. To find the satellite I peaked 39°E using a Ku LNB and then nudged the dish slightly east and swapped to a C-band LNB. I used one of RimaNTSS's adjustable LNB holders but I think attaching the LNB onto the lower half of the CM LNB holder with zip ties should still get you something. Declination may need to be adjusted if the dish is motorised or elevation if it is fixed.

If you still have your SDR use something like SATSAGEN to look at the spectrum, if you can find the beacon or telemetry signal and have a laptop (or can get the SDR to work on a tablet/phone) they are nice to use to peak the signal.

How do you know the antenna is pointed toward the satellite?
This is one of my motorized antennas for the Ku band.
It covers the arc correctly.
I'm just looking for the moment to have locks on my satellite finder.
I started on the 22°0 which I receive very well in Ku.
According to Lyngsat in my area the EIRP should be 41 in C band so ok with a 1m20 but according to Sat beam it is necessary 1m50.

I'm going to try your idea with 40°E.
I am limited in my actions by a medical problem.
I will make a stable support in one to two weeks.
For the SDR, I will work on that too.

Do we need to reverse the video in C?
For what ?

For the moment I was just looking to lock a signal.
It's a biproduct of having the LNB local oscillator being higher than that of the frequency being scanned.

The receiver's software should already carry out the conversion if C-Band is selected, but if the option is there in the menu then try it.

1.5 m offset metal dish, unbranded, mounted on ChannelMaster polar mount, with 18 in actuator arm. Spans from 63E to 31W.

Nicosia, Cyprus.
Iwas starting to try the same on my 1.5m offset and have even tried to order a combi LNB from China.
Theoretically, I should be able to get a lot, being a motorized dish.
The problem, probably would be physical installation of scalar ring

A 60mm clamp should be the first part to order, though what dish is the 1.5m ?

THE DISH IS AN oem METAL MANUFACTURED IN turkey. tHE COMBI lnb IS COMING TOGETHER WITH THE holder clamp, as you say around 6 cm.Which means an elevation of the axis of look. I am hoping to figure out the mechanics of instalment when I receive the LNB

I was actually looking for such a combi but that manufacture it on order.

My dish is offset so mechanics of scalar ring will be a problem

For offset, it's honestly easier to put a separate C band LNB on top of the Ku band one and use declination or elevation control on the dish (fit one if you don't have it) to bring it into focus.
