Update 1: the house has exchanged! We are moving on the 4th Sept.

Update 2: I sought some pre-planning advice regarding installing the dish in the garden and the council said that the planning permission is likely to be granted as long as it's not too high from the ground and there are no objections from the neighbours. The first point is relative (the higher, the better!) but will need to have a chat with the neighbours once we move - there are only 3 that will see the dish, so hopefully there are no arseholes there!

Congratulations are in order.

...and if council statement is correct, you are in line for a 2.4 meter on a polar mount!

That's great news Alex :), its nice to have my dish up and not be concerned about a knock on the door:), you might be asked to blend it in like me, it went through me painting it but anything to keep them happy :).

Indeed Martin. The 1.8m Channel Master has been a blue dream of mine since FilmNet 1 moved from Astra at 19.2e to Thor 1 in 1997 and you needed that dish to get it here... A few months to get planning permission for my dream dish is nothing and I don't want to risk the "knock on the door".

That's good news about the dish and the house :-) was planning easy to do?

As I was thinking about permission for the dish I have now or may be a bigger one.

Just a bit worried about losing what I already have.

Well done Alex, but there is always an arsehole neighbour! we have been lucky here, hope you have the same luck. I would love a 3m here but SWMBO says 'no chance' always an obstacle!

Well, this was only pre-planning advice. They required site plans that you can buy online with the proposed dish location and description of where and how the dish will be mounted.

I started making a full application but I can't submit it until I've owned the house for at least 3 weeks and I am not getting the keys till the 21st August (next Friday). From what I can see, I can just re-use the plans I used in the pre-planning advice. Having this advice in the first place also helps and they said that in the letter.

It's a relatively straight forward process for this purpose. I am not building an extension - it's just a pole and a dish! As long as you're reasonable (i.e. not planning of putting it on the roof!) and the visual impact is minimal, they won't have an issue. The neighbours are the biggest hurdle here.

As I was thinking about permission for the dish I have now or may be a bigger one.
I'll have a Gibertini 1.5m dish up for sale soon :D A straight swap for your polar mount...

Thankfully, Mrs_CJ is understanding. The worst I get is an eye-roll. I've always said that the dishes are part of my life, and if you can't deal with it, we'll have to part ways right now.

When you say polar mount, do you mean with actuator?

The polar mount that you have is suitable for both, the 1.25m Gibby and the 1.5m. It's a straight bolt on, bolt off job.

I want cash! :p I meant it's a straight swap for you to bolt off the 1.2m Gibby and put the 1.5m on.

I paid £80 for it, so only want that much. Will come with the AzEl mount and the original LNB holder.
