Buy a cheap satellite meter, which you can pick up for less than £10, or from stores, like B&Q, for around £13. They are extemely easy to use, and are a huge help, in finding a satellite. All you do is make a small cable, connect the meter, between your LNB, and receiver, at the dish end. If the meter is connected correctly it will light up. You the increase the sensitivity, of the meter, by turning the knob, to the left, until it reaches about 5, midway, then slighly adjust your dish, to get the meter to 10, decrease the sensitivity, by turning the knob, to the right, to get it to read about 5, then adjust the dish, again, until it reads 10, and keep doing this until you het the maximum signal possible. Once completed go to your satellite receiver, scan in some channels, and check which satellite, you're on, by checking on sites like lyngsat, kingofsat, etc.. The best way, to use dishpointer, for finding a particular satellite, is by using the map. You type in your postcode, or location, then select the satellite, you wish to align your dish to, zoom in on the map. moving the green icon, to your house, then to your dish location, and look at the line, for where you should point your dish.
