Hiya,

There was a slight change of plans since this post: http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/forum/showthread.php?t=36727

My father is no longer interested in his system, so I brought the box and a small dish to my flat on the coast, and as my flat is on the west side of the building, I can only really get Hispasat.

I tried patching my Comag (to get TV Cabo in Nagra 1), but without much success, so I'm scrapping that idea. I've now decided to get a CAM. But of course, I only want the cheapest one that can just do Nagravision 1, because... that's... all... I... need.

A Dragon is out of the question because it's too expensive, and I've heard there are problems using it with a Comag anyway.

Preferably, I'm looking for a CAM that's ready to go (no mucking about with interfaces and programming, I'm no good with all that), and after some research I've found that TV Cabo may be autoupdating in some CAMs!

So the basic question is: is there a CAM out there that is cheap, decodes Nagra 1 (either autoupdating, or remote updating), and doesn't need loader cards and stuff?

PS I've heard mainly about the Matrix Revolutions 2.21 - would that be any good? £40 is quite a lot for me, but if its my only choice :-(

matrix will do the job,but you dont want cas2s or other bits to update software, this is what the hobbys is all about, thrill of the chase, and at time providers will change keys etc,and you will need 1 of these things to upgrade your software.as for 40 quid being expensive, the whole package is 1100 pounds, maybe cheaper in portugal,if you can get 1 from there.but forty quid is very cheap in comparison.

Oh I understand that. If I had a proper setup (like access to Astras or the Hot Birds) then I would be interested more in the hobby, rather than just getting a few free channels.

So would this be any Matrix, or specifically a Matrix Revolutions?

Can you not just remote update perhaps? :-( That's what I'd ideally want to do.

Point taken. If I was Portuguese, I'd appreciate it a bit more! But as it's the only encrypted service I can potentially access and anyway I don't speak Portuguese sadly (but I reckon I'll learn quick!)

Many thanks.
