And a chance to test the latest acquisition - a Concord 4060AF 4 megapixel camera (cost £3.50 from a charity shop) complete with USB lead and soft case

Anyhow, the DVD in question, 'Ultimate Kylie', given away owing to it's complete unplayability.

A few minutes of *ahem* vigorous rubbing - with a cloth and a twenty year old can of chrome cleaner, a good rinse.......

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

I think JML "Magic Erasers" can do such a job, they work on most plastics to remove scuffs and scratches (so I'm told, I'm not paying Argos to deliver a £1.99 item!!!)... :)

As for Kylie, mmm, from the neck down, yes please.... :-righton

I worked in the cd/dvd industry for 15 years any marks on a disc are best left alone, use of abbresive materials makes things generally worse as this cause more scratches deflecting the laser in your player causing the laser to jump track,a lint free cloth is the only thing one could use and then with care ,DVD's are more critical then cd's , sorry

You will see a section of Magic Eraser under the can of cleaner, however when used on a DVD, I found it doesn't remove the scratches as well an an abrasive liquid does. The second picture shows just how deep the marks were originally, a liquid solution not only takes off a damaged cover coat, it also 'deburrs' a remaining dent, or scratch, plus filling in some of the pits with a transparent cover.

Those old enough to remember will know of the trick of smearing a small amount of vaseline on 78's to mask the worst of the scratches. If I recall it also worked on 45's up to a point.
