Hi, folks.
Looked for a while for this answer and didn't find a proper one, so I decided to register. :)

I got a bunch of Conax CAMs (Telenor and original Canal D*gital ones)
These are all version 2.01 and 3.03 and I'd like to upgrade them to -> 4.00.

A friend of mine says it is possible, but I can't seem to find any proof of this.
The site hxxp://www.lefdata.com/satellite/cam/ci.html seems legit, but the links don't work for the .zip-files.

I've got a laptop with PCMCIA- ports, but it is Win XP, can it be done with it or do I have to get a Win98 'puter?

Thanks in forehand!

This question has been asked before, but I can't find what was the outcome.
Is there any reason why you need to change the firmware? There is always a risk to damage it if the upgrade is not done correctly.
Try to find another source for the file or contact the company that makes the CAMs and ask for their support.
If you get any success, then please report back so that other members will know how to do it.

From memory you can't reflash these old conax cams without removing the chips. That would cost more than buying a new cam.

So that link a gave in the first post is just complete bs and doesn't work? :confused

FYI: Only Conax 4.00 works here, the older ones are useless.

The assumption has always been that the files on lefdata are valid.

But since it is not worth doing due to cost of removing the eeprom no one has ever verified that the file works.

Try to sell them and buy new CAMs with the proceeds.
There are still few packages in other countries that might work with older CAMs and Conax CAM has always been an expensive module compared with ex. Viaccess.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Is there also a eeprom-issue with the Viaccess (Red) CAMs?
