Hi Folks,
'Flinchingly Polite' here.
First, I hope this is the right thread. Second, I've scanned the existing 250 thoughts on the topic and hope I haven't missed the answer to my problem (and that the 'problem' isn't just too simple for words!)
Here it is: I want to get BBC2 (England) on my TV in the lounge. At present it receives BBC2 Wales and there is only so much Rugby one can stand.
My satellite receiver (a Manhatten Plaza ST500), located in my study, let's me watch Beeb 2/Horizon etc on a PC. Next to the PC there is a TV aerial connection available which comes down from a signal booster box bringing the terrestrial feed from a TV aerial in the loft.
The same signal booster supplies the aerial cable feed which runs into the lounge setup (a Digihome DG250DTRA08, a PanasonicTX-32LXD60 TV and DMR-EX75EB DVD recorder)
So here (at last!) is the question.
How can I get the picture supplied by the satellite receiver to wend it's way up the cable from the study, through the loft signal amplifier and then back down the coax cable into the lounge and appear on the TV: and all without blowing up any or all of the 'daisy chain' of equipment described?
Any thoughts on the topic would be most gratefully received.
And many thanks for reading all this rambling palaver.

Sounds like you need a box in the loft with a return feed from your Manhatten, and a receiver with an RF output. The LOFTBOX should do what you want.

Thanks for your very prompt reply, Robbo. You must be a night-owl too.
However, regretfully, I do indeed live up to my 'Incompetent' log-in name!
So what's 'a return feed' and 'a receiver with an RF output' when they're at home?
I've scoured the Web and looked at a Loftbox as you kindly suggest, but the sites seem to indicate an application where the dish/lnb output goes via the Loftbox to the satellite receiver and thence direct to the telly: not like my situation.
Or maybe the Loftbox IS 'a receiver with an RF output'? And perhaps the Loftbox would accept 'a return feed from' my Manhattan?
Am I getting warm, or, as the old song goes, just 'blowing in the wind'?
I was thinking in terms of a 'Y' connector to attach (1)the loft aerial feed with (2)the Manhattan feed, and then (3) to the signal amplifier already in the loft, but (obviously) wasn't brave enough to risk a catastrophic melt-down!
When you've stopped laughing maybe you'll give me some more hints!?
All the best
Alan

Probably the easiest way to do it is to buy an old sky digibox from a car boot sale or fleabay put it in the living room and run a new cable from the dish to the living room. You would need to replace the lnb (the bit on the dish arm the cables connect to) if the current one only has one outlet.

Thanks Mr A. I have already got a redundant Sony S760U, but 'Er indoors will excise vital parts of my sensitive anatomy if I run more 'bits of wire' into her sanctum.
That's why I was hoping to use the existing aerial cable. Any other ideas? (besides divorce)

I think whatever you do with wires, you would need an extra cable run to return the RF from the SAT box back up to feed to the other room. I had mine like this for a while and just used a combiner in the loft to the feed to the 2nd TV.

Another option is a wireless video sender, the remote will work over it as well. The 5.8GHz version might be better as the 2,4GHz can get interference from WiFi. I tried one the other week, and it worked well in my house, the picture got a bit grainier the further away I took it.

The Plaza does have a UHF modulator output (and optional NTSC VHF according to the spec anyway). Maybe you bought one that was destined for another market, but you can check by connecting just a simple aerial cable to the TV and accessing the Plaza menu with the modulator settings.

Then, if all goes well with test 1, you will need to get some way to drive both your normal aerial and the output of the Plaza upstairs to whatever distribution system you have to feed the signals to the other TV that gives you rugby on demand ;)

My thanks for this were delayed because Tiscali has been AWOL for nearly a week due, they say, to the Olympic Constructors in the Lea Valley digging a hole through their pipe!
Anyway, the 'Y' connector worked, after I disturbed the spiders in the loft. The picture was a bit grainy, so I attached a Maxview signal amplifier maa38uv between the Manhattan and the feed up from the study. When powered up it gave a brilliant picture to the tv, but the digital picture went to pieces. Scrambled Egg Pixels. So the power up will need to be restricted to when I need to circumvent the Beeb Wales schedulers. The next trick is to get the remote control in the lounge to talk to the Manhattan in the study. Maybe that's a different thread.
Meantime, thanks once again for your input.
Kind regards
