I don`t like betting against England but it was so obvious they were going to be dismal from when the probable team was announced this morning. 3 at the back is the worst formation to use with players not used to it, all teams come a cropper when they try it out for the first time.

most of this board disagreed with the FA choice of manager at the time, and although he started well... i knew the honeymoon period would soon end.

hes wasnt good enough then, and hes not good enough now... you should always pick your strongest team.. ie players in form, and Rooney is not on form at all, he shouldnt have played (and im a United fan!!)
But i cant blame the result just on Rooney.. it was a poor team effort, not helped by crap tactics from the manager.

my opinion on Beckham is that if he isnt going to play him, he should have him in the squad at least.... and i would still play him time to time (depending on opponents and tactics)

Exactly. They dont get punished for consistent failure. Any other line of work and you would be sacked. All this 'hunger to win something and it not being about the money is rubbish.
I would like to see a Championship select squad, made up of that divisions best players who may still be earning good money but nowhere near that of Premiership players, take on the current England team as I think the Championship lads will show what hunger is really about and would spring a serious surprise to the Mayfair Massive.
