Hello there my programmer-expert chums....

Just bought myself a Cryptik 3.58MHz smartmouse/phoenix programmer, and would just like someone to confirm the power supply situation for me. I'd hate to fry it before I've even had it working!

I take it I can use either 9 or 12V. I'm also assuming that there is no advantage or disadvantage in using either voltage?

Also, can someone just confirm the polarity of the power plug? I have a reversible power supply lead, and I hate to make decisions. Positive in the centre and negative on the outer sheath?

Finally, does the card go in chip side down?

Thanks peeps.

Hi Stick

I use a 9vDC PSU, which, unloaded, delivers over 13V to the Cryptic.

A siimple diode (Zener?) resistor circuit drops this down to 12V for the rest of the circuit.

Presumably a 12VDC supply would be OK if the Zener is doing its job.

DC+ to the centre pin.

Card chip side down.
