im sure you have all tried putting the TV on and watching the football while having the volume down and listening to it on the Radio commentry...

and you will also have realised the time delay... because of the digital transmission??

so then, has anyone tried the above method with the newer DAB radios??? in theory, both being digital may minimise the delay??

has anyone tried it?

Doesn't work, not enough delay.

The problem is the multiple up/down retransmissions. Art Sport is by far the worse with about a 7 second delay to real time.

Best channels are 19e D+, 13e Sky Sport & 13e TPS with about 1-2 second delay.

You're right, I forgot that some Digital radios have the delay feature you describe.

You will have to do the research on which model to buy as most don't have this delay feature. I know about the Roberts 7, 8, 11 & Gemini1 and a Pure model and there might be some more.

Can you not start recording the game on the DreamBox then pause and start watching in sync with the radio sound?

Or does this only work with the Enigma image?

Check the other Roberts DABs - There's some decent looking ones you could give house room to:-

trouble is its the radio that is in front of the TV, so by pausing the dreambox you would actually make the gap bigger.

for instance, i was listening to a game once and this team got a penalty, they was cheering the goal and celebrating on the radio.... and on TV he hadnt even kicked the ball yet.. Doh!!!

mind you, i knew he was gonna score lol

I've got a Humax Freeview recorder so can pause/rewind the radio commentary through that, only problem is you can't get a small enough delay on it so the commentary ends up being way behind the picture! So I then have to delay the video from the Dreambox as well. Absolute pain in the a**e to get it all in sync!

My top tip for getting the audio + video in sync - wait until there's some goalmouth action and try and sync by the crowd reaction rather than the commentators.

Would probably be less hassle to just learn to speak Spanish or German.
