As for in-line amps, you can't amplify what you don't have... the best way to see if an amp might help is, if practical and safe,  to take the receiver to the dish and connect a short length of temporary cable between the LNB and receiver. If there is a significant increase in signal quality over the usual signal when connected to the long cable run then an amp might help somewhat.</blockquote>
