developing the receive software

well I have a digitall world receiver at home.
I have a sti5518 chip in the receiver and want to develop software myself for this receiver.i downloaded many tools for st20 based chip but i dont know how to do it.can any body tell me is their any tutorial on this ??can any body help :-lan2 :-lan2

I don't think so . You must have the shematics of your receiver ,the data for the tuner ,display , remote control codes, etc ,etc, etc! So many information ,whithout it, you can't do anything.

well i have a st20 toolset and the emulator as well as assembler and and dessembler software for st20 based processor i have a digitallworld receiver model sci-190m. i have the full data sheet for the sti5518 and its instruction set but i dont know how to do it as far schematics are concerned its a way too far i just want to start it fro the basics and i dont know the basics can any body help in this regard .

there are no 'main parts' to ird firmware. embeded aplication software is all integrated for a specific funtion,in this case ,make a satellite reciever work.
i have been working with st micro chips a very long time and would never attempt such a feat.not to sound negative,but it took a team of engineers years to develop ird firmware. a very strong background in satellite communications,digital radio,embeded software,and i spent months just modifying an ird.

When there is a will there is a way. I have started some work on this for quite sometime. There are some reference source code for STi5500 circulating in the internet. I happen to get a copy and tried to change it from STi5500 to STi5518.
