my friend gave me a brand new pace sky digi box and today i ordered a solace card.

when i moved into this house there was a sky dish and cable already fitted. its not the oval dish its round but ive been told that that makes no difference.

tonight i attatched the cable to the digibox and it says on screen "no satellite signal being received"

in june when i got my xtreme i plugged it into the cable and scanned for channels getting a few free ones so it appeared to be working then. tonight i plugged it back into the xtreme and scanned the channels but got nothing.

nothing on the dish or cable has been touched since june.

am i doing something wrong with the digibox?

is there a way for me to check the signal using my xtreme?

what is the sat name that sky use for the digiboxes?

thanks

If your xtreme is not picking up a signal it is likely that something has gone wrong since June, maybe dish moved slightly, lnb bust, or cable damaged. The 'sat name' for sky is Astra2 basically shown as 0002 in the id of sky software. However, you will probably need to enter a different 'default transponder' if you are outside uk, and not 11.778 which the pace defaults to. Try entering 12.129v as default transponder and see if you can get any clock time to come onto the epg. Does this make sense, you know services4,0,1, etc?

Which free channels did you get then?

If it's a round dish and has been there since the days of $py analogue then it's probably pointing at Astra 1 at 19E and the free channels were from there.

The satellite the dish needs to point at is Astra 2 at 28E. You also must have a universal LNB to get most of the channels.

Check these things out and I think the answer is there.

im sure i got an itv news channel.

looking at the dish it appears to be pointing to the right of my main dish below it. my main dish is on astra 19 and hotbird 13, so that makes me think it is pointing at 28. i think ill get an engineer out.

thanks guys

From behind, the sky dish should be to the left and pointing a bit higher than the astra 19 dish.
