I came back from five weeks holiday to find that the Digihome PVR (one of many different badges applied to the Vestel PVR) had siezed up sometime during that time. When this happens while I'm watching something I simply disconnect the mains plug and let it boot up again. This time it didn't restart! Goodness knows how long it been in that condition as it was quite hot to hold. I checked the mains fuse (OK) and then looked for an internal fuse. There wasn't one and I couldn't see anything that looked like a fusible link either so I lloked around the rest of the board. There were signs of heat around a semiconductor device in the power supply side. I identified it as a TOP234YN and found the data sheet here _http://www.powerint.com/sites/default/files/PDFFiles/top232-234.pdf Unfortunately I don't know for sure whether it is at fault. Are there any tests I can do with my digital multimeter? Furthermore, if it is faulty I then have a further problem - where to buy one from in the UK!
