Digitallworld sci-5110e help needed !!!!!!!

Hi there im sorta new here currently using a sci-5110e although in the

system information folder it says it is a sci-5110s?. the problem i have

is,im trying to upgrade the software (patch and boot 1.9) using dwsu.exe v1.24 and im not getting anywhere im using usb to null convertor i have
connection with stb but after the download bar has finished i just get the message s/w updating please wait....... and it stays like that till i turn it off the display of the sci-5110e displays the letter c on its front panel whilst this is happening any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum stevesheard

Well having spent many an hour in my previous employment messing around with USB to serial converters, i would recommend stopping whilst you are still sane and buy a cheap used old laptop running win 98 and then use the correct null modem cable to update your stb. The converters are very unreliable in my opinion and often fail to complete the process, it is well documented on the forum

hi there

thanks for that i have tried writing to the stb with a program editor this was okay till it stopped anf the c appeared in stb display which leads me to belive the stb crashes part way through download will try your option

hi again stb is downloading and uploading using channel editor but still crashes and locks out whilst downloding software it also locks when you access any freesat channels and some sky fta channels. i am starting to think that i have a software fault on stb any ideas i.e special restore button presses ect?

or is there a generic software loader i could use any ideas would result in much love
