And heres another fairly typical Icelandic hotel installation. The smaller dish is probably for 28E - many of the hotels had English channels on their tvs. Astra 2D channels were ok in the evening but were noticed to be badly breaking up late at night and first thing in the morning

Icelandic dish photos !! Many thanks Analoguesat.

Have you seen bigger dishes than 1.50m anywhere ? North American stuff could be possible on bigger C-Band reflectors. Would be too nice to read also about fringe reception from several European and Arabic Satellites. :)

That big one on the post office has to be over 2m - its bloody huge!

Its also the only operational dish out of the three - the two smaller ones didnt have any coax running onto the lnb's!

Alright, it looks like the big dish is pointed most to the East than the two others. So i would guess: The left one for 19.2E (9.7° elevation), the biggest for 28.2E (6.6° elevation) and the smallest on the right wall watching most to the west, probably 13E (11.4° elevation).

Iceland is not too North but the very western location of the island makes it difficult for most interesting european satellites that are further East. The more North you get the narrower the viewable part of the Clarke-Belt. Nevertheless there are installations far more to the North like on Spitsbergen here: _http://tv-sat.pl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=44&Itemid=49

1W should be the sat position that covers Iceland on purpose. Thor 5 like Thor 2 before covers also parts of Greenland.

1) Picture of Haifa from above. Almost every roof has a dish and a solar hot water system.
2) An old rusty dish in the Jordan Valley. This one used to feed one of the only two TV's in this Kibbutz :)

Well I think a zoom of your picture demonstrates that much better

It's more like a rash of dishes and solar water heaters

Which kibbutz T_G?
