As always, I am seeking some help. I am currently renovating my house, and would like to end up with my sky+, 2nd sat receiver, dvd etc all located remotely, but with an ability to watch different inputs in different rooms (and obviously use a remote). I may also want to hook up a CCTV system to enable viewing on different tv sets, and possibly audio too.

If you had a blank piece of paper, what would people suggest ? In terms of cabling , should I be running co-ax to every room from the system cupboard, or trying to work with ethernet instead, or is there a viable wireless option? I assume both co-ax and ethernet are capable of HD quality?
What boxes do I need to achieve all this?

I'm looking for the easiest but most future proof option.
Thanks,

Global do a nice CAT5 solution for composite video distribution, most AV companies tend to run a couple of coax cables (sometimes three), two or three CAT5 cables and a multicore cable to all points.

This then pretty much future proofs the installation. HDTV can be sent over two CAT5 cables using adapters, but they are very expensive, hence why most people have their HD receiver in the same room as the TV.

CCTV signals are easy to distribute, either as composite video, or modulated UHF.

Rolf, thanks. Could the same be achieved using a powerline adapter such as Netgear's rather than laying new ethernet ?

Depends exactly what you want to achieve, but if you are looking for long term flexibility, then probably no.
