I just wanted to post here what works for me with DVBViewer. Using this configuration I get excellent quality video on SD and HD DVB-S and DVB-S2 transmissions from Astra 2.
In addition I have an Irish white card accessible via an internal local only NewCS server. Using Acamd as a client this allows me to decode my own Irish card. How this is all configured is set out in this thread: http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...lite/165253-dvbviewer-newcs-cccam-mgcamd.html
For H.264 I use the Overlay option for rendering and the CoreAVC codec. For MPEG2 on satellite I use EVR for rendering and Elecard for 4:2:2 video and the Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 codec.
With this combination I get really smooth set top box quality SD & HD video on satellite. There are a number of plugins available for EPG gathering etc.
Tying DVBViewer into the Windows timers allows scheduled recordings as well. The one thing missing is MHEG-5 text functionality but there is a tool on the way from DVBViewer to support that.
