Hello everyone,

I recently bought Strong DVR 4622XII, it has a USB port for recording the problem is that after recording and i want to playback on my PC but i can't find the right codec it's a .TS (Telesync) the codecs i tried:

K-Lite Media Pack (Latest)
Haali Codecs
Elecard
Core AVC Professional Codec
VLC Player
DVB Viewer Pro

But none of those could play my recording, i can convert to DVD and play after recording using ConvertXtoDVD program, but i really need the right codec for my computer TS playback, thank you.

PS: sorry if it's not the right section to post this issue.

Try the simplest option first and simply rename the extension as .wav. This has been known to work in some cases.

Renaming the extension didn't work it's an Mpeg 2 file format (TELESYNC), i tried to rename it to .AVI too but didn't work :(
thanks for your suggestion anyway.

Have you also tried renaming it it as MP2, MP4 or MPG? I think that's clutching at straws though as K-Lite would have found it already!

Try gspot (_http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ ) to identify and point you to the possible codec to play your file.

.TS is an MPEG Transport Stream.

Try renaming to .mpg or .mpeg or .MPG or .MPEG.

It is possible the inability of the programs to read the proprietary metadata at the start of the stream is stopping it from playing. Find a program which will ignore the metadata and it may work.

Try using Media Player Classic.

If ConvertXtoDVD can convert it then something must be able to play it.

If you get stuck, an alternative if the receiver has an IF out is to get a cheap DVB-S or more expenisve DVB-S2 computer card and use it with DVB Viewer as a PVR. No problem with recording then as it will be in plain mpeg (or H.264 for HD).

AutoGordianKnot should be able to convert the file to an AVI file easily

Did you try using Media Player Classic? It is supposed to play almost anything.

Will VirtualDub with the mpeg2 plug-in open and play the file?

I seem to recall there was a program to convert Fortec Star files to plain mpeg. That may work if the format is essentially the same - Fortec Star files are mpeg with a different header, which stops programs from playing it.

Perhaps try MPEG Streamclip as it can ignore some headers and play some damaged files.

Found it! It is at

_http://www.nicecuppa.net/

about half way down.

It will 'fix' the file by re-writing the header to make it fully compliant with the ISO standards so it will play on anything that will play mpeg. It will only take a few seconds to do so.

It is worth trying.

If you go to start ---> run ---> type in CMD

then drag the dvbstuff.exe file into the open Command window and press enter it will give the list of options and ask for a filename.

Try dragging the video file onto the dvbstuff.exe file, it may automatically fix it.
