North York Moors
Just coincidence, I imagine. That area has always been prone to trivial seismological events, fracking or not. Useful ammunition for the luddites and other weird-beards, though.

A second tremor today, of course it would be too much to ask if the same frequency (and levels, even sub 1s ) were being recorded while the machines were turned off over the summer.

It seems the triggers are set extremely tight, compared to other countries.

Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
Iv'e been in a Mag 7 back in "89", and it was quite a ride, the bigger ones will shake you to your bones.

  • One "great" earthquake (magnitude 8 or larger) earthquake every 13 years
  • One magnitude 7 to 8 earthquake every year
  • Six magnitude 6 to 7 earthquakes per year

I came across this link by chance yesterday, detailing earthquakes in the (south) UK, though the early chronology does mention nationwide events.

1089, Aug. 11, 3rd hour of the night. Throughout all England. "Houses were seen to leap upwards and return to their position. Simeon Dumelmensis. (Mallet, 1858)
