Just recently got this box, seems very good, but how on earth do you edit/ delete channels? Tried all the usual programs (DreamSet, dreamboxEDIT, E-Channelizer etc.) but nothing works! Lets you do the editing on the PC, but when I send it back across to the Octagon and reboot, nothing has changed, although it does let me change satellite names, but nothing to do with the channel lists. It's infuriating as i now have loads of channels stored that scan in simply as 'Service 1' or something similar. Also, how do you get Oscam or CCCam working? Got Oscam installed but simply tells me 'no parse cannot emu'. Anyone with any advice?

You can only use Oscam on ARM CPU based receivers now, such as all the other 4K receivers Solo4K,Uno4K,Ultimo4K and the Octagon 4008. as far as your channels have you tried deleting all relevant info to channel data in /etc/enigma2/ folder reboot box and the re-upload edited channel data from your PC and then another reboot.

Oscam is very easy to use once you grasp the basics and there are plenty of downloadable preconfig files available to get you started

Remember to download oscam for the chip ARM you have or for the octagon receiver SF4008.
If you lower oscam normal, it does not work on that receiver/chip ARM.
Oscam works with cccam lines, it is very easy to adapt the data, you even have programs that adapt them.
----------

Thanks for the replies. Tried deleting all the channel list info, reboot, guess what, it's reappeared! As for the CAMS, tried OSCAM for ARM chips, doesn't work. Read that NCAM should work, installed this, seems to be installed ok but doesn't show up in the CAMS list. A bit like banging my head against a wall at the moment!

Dreamboxedit should work in editing your channels list, however if it doesn't all you have to do if you don't want to mess with telnet is to ftp to etc/enigma2 and delete lamedb5 file before you upload a new list on your stb.
Both oscam and ncam work on SF4008 (ncam is based on oscam anyway).

Just installed the sateditor channel editor and deleted a number of dead transponders from a beam I cannot get on a satellite and then rescanned. So much faster now . You can also add transponders to satellites.xml with it.

It is found on
TS-satEditor 2.0.0 enigma2 plugin - Page 2 - [EN] Third-Party Development - Forums - Page 2

Thanks for all the advice, but nothing has worked so far! It just will not let me edit a channel name! Deleted lamedb5 file before uploading my edited file, but original lamedb5 file is back upon rebooting and nothing has changed. Even tried directly editing the lamedb file over FTP but that doesn't work either! Still can't get any softcam running either. OSCAM is installed but doesn't do anything, installed NCAM but won't show as a selectable option in the CAM list.

Touch to read calmly and slowly.
Oscam for ARM Chip works well with CCCam data (well put), it only works oscam for ARM chip, rest nones.
Be careful that you have oscam for chip mips and this is not worth it.

With DreamboxEdit, remember to reload the data when you send them, if you send them, but do not recharge them, you will not see them, create a favorite/bouquet that is the date to see the changes.
To see the changes, if they are only added channels, press the corresponding button to get the list of channels on the screen and then press the blue button (in general to see the Favorites you have), to see the changes, you will see the bouquet / Reference favorite [7.0 March 2017 New read].

If you touch the satellites.xml file, it is necessary to completely restart the computer, it only reads it at the start of the receiver.
To play the file lamedb, in general it is not good to do it if you do not have knowledge, be careful, it also reads it when rooting from scratch.
If you do not restart, these changes will not see.

You will only see the bouquet changes / favorites, whenever you reload the list of channels, it is an option of the programs of editing of channels, this in Dreamset and DreamboxEdit, it is reviewed, it can be put of automatic form when sending the list of channels for not Have to perform by hand.

If you send only the files already modified (FlashFxp), as you do not reload the changes, you will never see them, you will have to restart completely.

I do not have the OCTAGON SF4008 receiver, but overall they are all similar.
If I drive the VU + Ultimo4K and the VU + Solo4K, with ARM chip with images VTI and Openspa (better for convenience for me).

PS: In the network and more forums you have much documentation of these topics.

-------------

I am thinking about using the bouquet system. If necessary, I will name a bouquet for each satellite and add channels to it, and then rename the channel. I tried this and then cleared the original channel list for the satellite while performing a fresh satellite scan and then rebooted the receiver. The Bouquet name was still attached to the original channel even though it had now been rescanned. This is all done within the receiver software. So far so good.....
