Do you realise that if football were played with rugby posts and if a goal were scored by kicking the ball over the cross bar, then England would have beaten Equador 13-1 and Gerard would have been highest scorer in the whole of the world cup competition? I wonder if this impressive performance can be equalled against Portugal.

I think England: moving the goal posts is the only way they stand a chance unless they begin playing to their potential. Perhaps FIFA will let them narrow the gap between the sticks by a couple of yards O-Ha

We can at least claim, when defeated by the "He punched me in the gob, mister, honest!", freefall French, the Flying Dutchmen, the "horribly injured at the corner flag, Brazilians, that we, "Played the game," fairly, and without the attendant histrionics relied upon by those of lesser moral fibre.
