I have a echostar dsb-770 FTA receiver with hotbird 13E and Sirius 4.8E.

My first question is if it's possible somehow to update the receiver directly from satellite. The reveiver has the support for it but I don't know on what TP and what satellite I can download the update?

Second question is concerning the EPG function. There's only a very few channels the displays any EPG information. Is that so, or is it something wrong with my receiver? It's maybe around 5% of all my channels that shows any EPG info..?

Thank you.

OTA downloads for many Echostars ceased a long time ago. Any software updates are available on the Echostar website. There are only TWO downloads available for the 707 - the most recent one being dsb770fta_r0204 which presumably is from Feb 2004.

The epg is running correctly - many channels dont transmit anything.

Thanks for your reply.
I read that there is a possibility to patch the receiver with software developed for "Strong" receivers.
Would I be able to update the receiver from satellite after such a patch? What other reasons are there to patch it? As I understand a few years ago you could watch encrypted channels with this software but nowadays that doesn't work any longer, am I correct?
