For the past few weeks, I have noted that every time i bring my Pace 2600c out of standby to watch a programme, the epg briefly comes up with "searching for Programmes" in every line so, however once it has done this EPG lines remain fully populated. Only when I look at a new page on the epg do I get the messages on each line but if I return to a previous page all is OK. The Pace is only every in standby mode during the day as this particular unit is in our bedroom an so gets used almost every night. Is something different in the way the epg is being transmitted? or do I have a hardware issue? I am running epg 3.8.8 at the moment.

What is your default transponder? When you press program guide can you hear the music? If you can hear the music, stick the default transponder on 11778 V and the EPG should fully populate when the box is in standby. My Vu+ and 1.8m dish downloads the EPG from that transponder, so you should get it fine with a Pace 2600 receiver and 2.4m dish 200km north of here.

OK - now checked everything - yes using 11778v - yes music - 90% signal strength and about the same quality at the moment but still it populates the EPG line by line with message "searching for listings" and take about 1 to 2 seconds per screen. Once it has them though it does not forget unless the machine is put back to standby. Had a thought though - Is there an on board battery or device which keeps the memory powered for the listings? - thinking this may be possible I changed the machine for another identical Pace 2600 and hey presto - no problems so far - will check over the next day or two and this may be just a fluke due to "re-tuning" as I had to put my card into it and so it had to search for the listings straight away before working at all!

It doesn't make sense. A digibox is powered up and receiving from 11778 whenever it is in standby, so in theory upon coming out of standby the EPG should be populated and ready to roll.

I agree it does not make sense - if only I could find out why it is happening !!! Well if it turns out to be the box I will just get another Foxsat - about the same sensitivity and even more choice in non freesat mode. Plus HD!!! I like the old Pace though and these boxes have done me really well over the past 7 or so years so doen't really want to give up on them just yet.

PS I have now had the 2nd box in standby overnight and this morning it work up perfectly - ie the epg fully loaded and instant. Will now have to retry connecting up the other box again - to see if it is indeed the box which is casuing the issue and will post results here for speculation or otherwise.

There's a poster on the Astra2d site with the same/similar problem on the same box in Spain. Not sure what that tells us with certainty though...

I've used a load of these Pace boxes which are scattered around various family member's houses and I think I've seen this problem too but didn't think much of it at the time. Now I'm trying to remember which box it was.

Joddle, there was a known bug in the 3.8.8 EPG software for the 2600, and the software was recalled. I'm not sure if it has been sorted yet but you could always try a forced update. Doing the forced update used to wind the box back to the previous version (3.7.8). Or maybe now it will just force the download of a bug free version of 3.8.8. Just power up the receiver with back up button on the box pressed until all the LEDs on the front light up.

Thanks Huevos - all perfect again now - such a simple thing to do and problem solved. And thanks to everyone else who also tried to help.
