Is there a way to load UK firmware onto a European Panny. The TVs are exactly the same electronically, only difference was the firmware and plug supplied.

I am British, but bought the TV in Europe and want to have Iplayer instead of the euro stuff on there now.

If I load the UK file, it says not compatible, there must be a way to fool it into loading the UK firmware

My TV TX-P50VT20E

Trying to load F/W TX-P50VT20B (B indicating British)

But if you are still in Naples unless you setup a UK based VPN or proxy you will not be able to watch iPlayer even if you did manage the download

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

All Sony TV's that I have worked on have a plug in socket just behind the PCMCIA slot for burning in different versions of firmware (using an old style - pre SD - memory card). It is normally accessible under a flap held on with two screws

You may have to check inside the Panasonic to see if there is something similar, as the 'E' suffix means just that.
Getting the firmware however means paying some beer tokens for a person with a Panny account.

I have the firmware, the TV just wont accept it.

Yes I do have a VPN in the UK thats works well on my Media PC. Now testing on a $ly box and thought of removing the Euro firmware on the TV.

Panasonic say its impossible. I seem to disagree. They just want me to drive to the UK, buy a UK model and bring it back. Mmmm dont think so.

Panasonic also say they can't add DiSEqC 1.2 into the their Freesat TV's.

It might possibly be a memory capacity issue, but I'm inclined to call their bluff.
