EUTELSAT 8W C Band

Hi,

I have a 1m80 prime focus antenna with 13K LNB and a corotor for circular and linear polarisations.
On 5 W & 11W, I have good signals.

I was wandering is someone can pick-up the 4171 R S/R 30000 on 8W in the same region of Belgium, South of England,
and so one. Here nothing. Strange, as the Eutelsat site footprint shows a 38/39 dBW for Belgium.

Hi - The best i can do here in north west u.k. on a 1.8 channel master offset ....is 6.2 db ( no lock)
.. according to Lyngsat it needs a minimum of 7.9 db

I have a lock and decent signal on 3989 R SR: 30000 8W. Footprints are not always realiable.

What about Intelsat 11 at 43.1W. Someone has some locks on the European footprint ?

Hi - Do you mean 3889 R SR: 30000 8W. ... RFI Radio channels ? --- that one locks fine ...
also 3 or 4 other transponders ... the strongest being 3826 H 4597 Lesotho Television at 11.7 db ... can you see that one ?

Will have a look at 43.1W later ...

43W some signal but no lock 2.4m

On the 8West 4171 R signal i can max out at 7.5dB from the 2.2 PF but just under lock .... The sun is blazing down on the lnb at the moment, i'll try it again when the sun drops and the electronics cool off a bit. Freq 3889 R locks ok and is 7.5dB with me.
Not tried 43West as yet.

With the 1m80 PF and a Ariva 252 Combo, I have about the same locks as you do :

5W - 3646 - R - 2170
5W - 3652 - R - 2018
5W - 3727 - R - 29950
5 W - 4054 - R - 1835
8W - 3889 - R - 30000
11W - 3662 - R - 10808

Hi - @telspace -
Indeed - most transponders "are" out of reach for me on that sat ... its not one i normally bother with for that reason ... Quite surprised with blind search to catch the ones i did .... maybe the good weather here is helping me ...... may get a few more with manual - input /scan .. will have another look later.

I have attached a couple of pictures below that present the C-Band scan results I got from 8.0W recently. Most of the frequencies were lockable except for the four "Star Times Uganda" frequencies encrypted in Conax. I was under a lock for the lower two "Star" frequencies but could "see" them with an F15 receiver. The higher pair of frequencies gave absolutely nowt except a flutter on the signal indicator of the F15.

There are some small gaps in the signal levels between the two pictures attached below. The first picture in tabular layout was from an F15 receiver connected directly to the LNBF. The second picture presenting the blind scan result was from a longer cable run passing through two A/B switches.

Is anyone able to lock the transponder on 8°W C band with the French RFI radio services?

Nice low FEC in QPSK mod. I'd be very interested in a transponder TS dump file if anyone would be so kind! I'm interested to investigate what additional data they send along with this, presumably for FM rebroadcast in Africa.
