Does anyone know of any faster World Cup feeds in the UK than ITV terrestrial?

I believe ITV are about 3 seconds down on certain feeds (anyone who uses the betting site Betfair will know what I mean).

THe FTA channels ARD Das Estre and ZDF are about 1 sec quicker.

TPS is about 3 secs slower.
Canal+France is about 3 secs slower.

Does anyone have access to Canal+Spain please to tell me what the delay is there? Or any other channels. This is really p*ssing me off now (and costing me money).

Betting during live football matches. The faster the feed the better. Slower - big loss :(

I can only recommend giving up betting and taking up something that doesn't cost your pocket as much as you will never get the edge unless you own the company feeding the links from the matches. They are the ones with the power and can easily delay the feed as long as they see fit using fifo buffers. that is apart from the delay up and down from the satellite.

Fair point, Dad. I better give back my winnings then. But I'm not trying to get an edge, just to equalise it.

Does anyone know the anwer to this? Are there any sat stations with a faster World Cup feed than ITV?

ITV is one of the worst for delays - the F1 coverage can be anything up to 5 seconds behind the identical coverage on RTL.

Anyone doing serious event betting using ITV coverage needs their head testing.

I have mentioned these delays before - not to do with gambling (how can you gamble within 5secs?) Don't answer.

The same DVB-T delay is experienced here in Berlin. Awful when a goal is scored - because your cable/sats mates are already roaring - while you are still watching a crucial header?

Given that the footy is happening in Germany - it makes sense that any German feed would be 'quicker' - even when it ends up Direct To Home.

Of the BBC (with a studio in Berlin? didn't know) - I imagine an EBU broadcast sat feed reaching a links truck in Berlin (sic) - (add seconds from German original uplink). With a truck full of toys the BBC further uplink a feed back to presentation back in London (add seconds). That is then rebroadcast from the UK and beamed back down to 'us' (add seconds) - How many seconds is that? Still enough time to have a bet? LOL.

How and why DVB-T sucks after all that - I don't think I will ever know.

Its about a third of a second for a single hop from ground to satellite and back to ground.

A 'hop' is one thing - an entire broadcast loop is different; as you know.

DVB-T here, one might have thought would be faster, but no it isn't. Where this delay comes from I dunno. Maybe its a double hop, skip and a jump, hehe. I image no difference in the UK - from us here in Berlin.

Daft apeth

The only realsitic way of getting TV on a laptop right now would be DVB-T.

I would put money on a near 5sec delay before I saw my sorry ass waving to the cameras, LOL.

Wouldn't go down well on the stand anyone enjoying a delayed goal - It'd be Mexican wave madness :confused

Post, betting, TV, starter of thread. http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/forum/showpost.php?p=381285&postcount=1

Taking a laptop to a football match in order to bet = 500.00 pounds
Claim on insurance when trashed by your own side winning = 600.00 pounds
Spilling beer, watching the game and shouting a lot = Priceless.

Or

Missing the goal because you were bent ass-over-tit trying to maintain a Wi-Fi Hotspot = Now, that is priceless. :D

No, of course not, its hooked up to the mobile - I know. Don't spoil the joke.

:-doh!

Anyone that has bid at the last second or so on auction sites will know that there are also delays in the IP transfer system back to the server, so there really is no guarantee of getting the content/bid/bet in , or the result quicker, apart from going to the betting shop (and then you are at their mercy anyway).

If you cant cope with a 40 - 70% payout average, then dont bet.
